Day 1
Yerevan (wine tour)
Arrival in Yerevan. Transfer to hotel. Lunch in the restaurant.
City tour: Republic square, «Victory» park , «Mother Armenia» monument by Ara Harutyunyan, Cafesjian Center for the Arts, Cascade, Monument of A.Tamanyan, Opera House.

Supper in the restaurant. Degustation of three types of Armenian wine, «Proshyan wine company» collection, 1998.

The «Proshyan brandy factory», LLC was founded in 1887. Today the factory
has a large assortment of alcoholic beverages: brandy, wine, vodka, sparkling wine, liqueur. The main products of the factory are the Armenian brandies of 3-30 years
maturity. The factory is famous for its original fruit wines made according to unique
technology: pomegranate, quince, blackberry, cherry and apricot wines are
considered to be the best in the its class.

Day 2
Yerevan - Garni - Geghard - Sevan - «Ijevan» Company - Yerevan
A trip to Geghardavank. A stop at Charents arch – the best point to view Mt. Ararat.

Geghard (Monastery of the Lance, XII-XIIIcc). The name of Geghard is connected with the biblical lance which is preserved here. As it is mentioned in the Bible, by this lance a roman warrior pierced the body of the crucifixed Christ. What is believed to be the tip of that lance is preserved in the museum of the Cathedral of Saint Echmiadzin.

3. White Ijevan. Density 11%, 2008 y.

4. Armenian Saperavi. Density 16%, 2006 y.

5. Ijevan muskat. Density 16%, 2009 y.

6. Vazashen. Density 11%, 2008 y.

Visiting «Yerevan Ararat brandy-wine-vodka» factory, «NOY» brand.
Excursion in the factory, which includes a visit to the department of brandy spirit distillation, museum, wine cellar. Wine and brandy tasting.

Degustation of wine and brandy made in Armenia by means of Spanish technologies.
1. Wine «Madera». White wine made from «Voskehat» grape sort, 1944 year's harvest. The wine has a high alcohol percentage (19-20%) and low sugar concentration (5%).
2. Wine «Malaga». Red wine made from different sorts of grapes, 1913 year's harvest. Sweet wine (alcohol - 16%, sugar – 26%).
3. Brandy «Noy Classic 10 years old»
Classic Armenian brandy is made from brandy spirits aged 10 years in oak barrels. Noy Classic has a dark-golden colour and enchanting bouquet of ripe fruits with mild tones of almond; it is distinguished by rich and soft taste with measured roughness.
4. Brandy « Noy Classic 20 years old»
Classic Armenian brandy is made from brandy spirits aged 20 years in oak barrels. The brandy has a bright, clear and amber color with beautiful goldish shines. Cognac is a majestic bouquet of ripe fruits, dried fruits, chocolate, vanilla and almond. In the result of splendid blending of old brandy spirits, this brandy may be called the national treasure.

A trip to Ararat valley home of Khor Virap («Deep Dungeon») Monastery, from which Grigor Lusavorich rose from imprisonment to become the first patriarch of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The monastery is very near the Turkish border and offers Armenia’s most splendid view of Mount Ararat, from which, according to the Holy Bible, Noah’s ark landed following the «Great Flood».

The tour continues to Vayots Dzor marz, along the picturesque gorge of the Gnishik River and comes to Areni village which is famous for its vineyards. Excursion in «Areni» wine factory.

Learning about the wine making technology.

1. Wine «Areni». The red, dry, natural wine having a dark red colour, pleasant astringency and fragrance of fresh grapes. «Areni» - sort of grape. Density – 10-12%.
2. Wine «Old Areni». Semidry, red wine, 1994.
3. Wine «Lernashen». The red, semidry wine with violet-garnet tint. The mix of different sorts. Density – 1.5-2.5%.
4. Fruit wine «pomegranate». Natural-red, semidry pomegranate wine with a touch of astringency. Density – 10-12%.
5. Fruit-wine «Cherry». Natural-red, semisweet fruit-wine with an astringency and aroma of the fresh cherry. Density – 10-12%.

A trip to the monastery of Noravank («New Monastery») (XII- XVcc.) the religious center of principality of the Orbelyan dynasty, home to prominent Armenian figures of the medieval culture.

Visiting the bird cave. Excavations in the cave have uncovered large clay pots and jugs (some more than 50 liters in capacity) that have been dated, through examination of organic matter remaining in them, to around 3500-3900 BC., the remains of the dried and crushed grapes, preserved in part due to the cave’s microclimate. More interest is the fact that the settlement is said to be the world’s earliest large-scale wine making facility ever found.

Visiting wine cellars of 3rd-2nd Millennium BC.

Back to Yerevan. Supper in «Maran» restaurant in suburbs of the city. Degustation in a special room specialized on Armenian regions Goris and Karabakh wine.

Yerevan - Yerevan Brandy Company - airport Zvartnots
Visiting Yerevan Brandy Factory, the storehouse, the museum of history and brandy tasting.
